Education Policy Pill: Global Citizenship Education and democratic participation in Europe

This Policy Pill offers an interactive way to explore SOLIDAR Foundation’s Policy Paper on Global Citizenship Education and Democratic Participation in Europe. Global Citizenship Education (GCE) has been a central topic to the work of the SOLIDAR Foundation membership across Europe and beyond. A common frame that reunites the membership of SOLIDAR Foundation is the fact that each one of them is striving to achieve social justice through education, ensuring that all learners have access to quality, public education that is done in a lifelong and life-wide learning manner. Global Citizenship Education (GCE) can play an important part in increasing democratic participation across the EU and empowering people to become active members of a democratic society.

The Pill defines what (Global) Citizenship Education is and how it can help increase democratic participation, especially among young people. The key findings of the literature review can be explored, as well as the overview of EU policies related to GCE. Lastly, areas for improvement are highlighted and recommendations given.

Below, you can find the Policy Pill which can be accessed directly in this window, in minimised or maximised format.

You are invited to explore the GCE and Democratic Participation Policy Pill.

Enjoy!
