Towards a more structured dialogue between civil society from the Southern Mediterranean and the EU

Next week, SOLIDAR will be in Amman for a Seminar that will take place in the context of the new EU-funded project, called Malajat.

This new project, a partnership between EuroMed Rights, Forum des Alternatives Maroc, the Arab NGO Network for Development, the Arab Trade Union Confederation, Réseau Euromed France and SOLIDAR, aims to address key social and political challenges in the Southern Neighbourhood and in EU-Southern Neighbourhood relations through engaging citizens, including young men and women, in policy-making processes relevant to civil society, EU institutions, regional entities and authorities.

In Amman, the project will be presented and civil society from the Southern Mediterranean region will have the opportunity to discuss key challenges they are facing, especially in the field of good governance, migration and mobility, economic development and social dialogue, and security and countering violence.

SOLIDAR believes that, at this moment in time, it is crucial to promote citizens’ engagement, empowering civil society and enabling it to engage in a more structured, inclusive, continuous and sustainable regional dialogue.
